Quiltary, Consecos, Wood Goold, Passengers and Their Baggage

Just recently I was contacted by Biff Swenson if I would be interested in some mp3s, would I?!?! He's an awesome dude/bro/guy and, I guess you hear this alot but its compleltly true, he just wants people to hear the music he creates because he likes music and is hella committed. Biff has been in a few bands Passengers and Their Baggage and he has Quiltary (Cape Terra), Consecos and Wood Goold going on at the moment. Plus hes planning to start another band, after a break which he deserves.

Heres what he gave me to give to you guys, definatly check these out! In the interest of time for some I posted bulk zips of the files and then Biffs original links if you want uncompressed individual files.

Quiltary (Cape Terra)
I posted these about a month ago, you might of wonderd onto their myspace one or twice. They have gone few some lineup changes.

"It actually didn't start as an acoustic project. it was actually an completely different band. Cape Terra was a four piece rock band (sounding like Third Eye Blind meets Taking Back Sunday) that I drummed for. That band was together for about a year, toured and all. We lost a member, then gained two. By that time though we sounded a bit different. I moved from drums to guitar. It started sounding a bit more American Football-ish. Then our drummer and singer quit. I moved back to drums and our lead guitarist started singing. We recorded Boys with Bottle Rockets with that line-up. Then our bassist left the band. Russell (our singer) moved to bass, and our friend Matt picked up guitar. By that point it was time to change the name of the band because there were so many changes, it just wasn't the same band."

The Consecos
This is really fun, its Biff and Matt (both of Quiltary) showing anyone can be a kinsella

Wood Goold
"Matt Goold (our current guitarist) and I are both in Wood Goold (with original Cape Terra bassist Nick Gianatiempo)" Im not sure how to describe this, it still has the noodly jammy bits but its a bit more laid back and maybe abit folky, im not sure if that does it justice. I just noticed theirs 2 more eps for download on the myspace, ill post them.

I Am the Sun EP
A Weeks Time EP

Passengers and their Baggage

"we were also in a 5 piece indie band 2 years ago called Passengers and Their Baggage. We sounded like mewithoutYou meets Anathallo" I didnt know what to expect seeing as ive been listening to the same music genre for nearly 6 months now and mwY or Anthallo I have never listened to :|, I really dig it though the guitar work is dreamy and sounds like good chilling music in the dark winter nights :3

Kindness

Funkiest thing since white boys. I got to see them supporting Nightjewel, Kindness stole the show though, they had one song which was Big Me and All Apologies lyrics combined with Kool & The Gang-esque funk, much like the video, ballin'.

pictures paint words

This band seems to have been going for ever, they have old blog entries from 2004/5 but their latest release was last year. They are from the UK aswell! Its a shame because they do/did the whole emo punk sound proberly the same time it was getting going in the US, UK needs more bands like this. Still looking for the EP but the album is awesome.

The Edmund Fitzgerald

Pre-Foals band, yannis and jack with some post/math rock. Have my fingers crossed the new Foals album will be good, I didnt think the last albums tracks stood up well to thier studio re-recordings compared to the demos and they always sounded much better live, hopefully they will write songs that are meant to be on a studio album. enjoy!

Spy Versus Spy

"Spy Versus Spy (Not to be confused with the Australian band Spy vs. Spy) were a post-hardcore band from Stoke-on-Trent in the United Kingdom" It sounds like what the UK/East Coast is doing now but about 9-10 years ago.

My favourite John Dwyer project, very noisy, fast and awesome. If you like Lightning Bolt I dont see how you can't like this.

MOLDAR

"A screamo band from Pasaden, California. Not so screamy or chaotic, more lain down. Singer barely screams at all." I only just started listening to this band and they write some beautiful songs, a possible comparison is I Hate Myself in terms of intense emotion and melody. They have broken up which is a big shame. Last Five is like woah.

Bike Rides

New group of Midwest Pen Pals, Merchant Ships and Oh! Darling. With an extra guitar this time they could achieve somthing great. Excitied as usual! Still waiting for the Nick Stutsman Owen/Meadowlands/Math You esque solo side-project, I can wish...

Bronze Medals

Small 3 piece from the UK that features Michael King of Youves, who I think is wasting his talent in that band and his solo-folk sideproject Boats to Row proves it to.

Some pop from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our Sea Legs is a nice song (not sure which version I like best though). Enjoy! Its everything I could get my hands on all in 256 goodness, EP and splits and other tracks.

Fair Ohs, Thee

Second time posting this band but with how much they have changed their sound in a few months it might aswell be a new band, plus it goes well with Jonquil below. It has that atm popular 'surf' sound but its hi-fi lo-fi, it's what Vampire Weekend should sound like.

Jonquil

Good friends with This Town Need Guns, Foals and Youthmovies. They started out as a folk-ish type of band untill Mumford and Sons ruined everything. Currently writing a 2nd full lenth album they have gone full electric and the songs are sounding like a soulful tropical paradise.

Cap Santé!

Already big in the right circles, they were a indie/emo/pop band from Aberdeen, Scotland. They split up not long ago (2007-09) and had one EP called 'Wampeters, Foma & Granfalloons', its meant to be up on thier Myspace but the link dosen't work.

Just a short one, UK band this time, don't know too much but they split and went on to Data.Select.Party and The James Cleaver Quintet. Only managed to find 1 song by them but it sounds good, clean screamo kinda like swedes with alot more tapping but its from the UK. Maybe its just me....

saleontomorrow

saleontomorrow (2004-2006) were a post-rock four-piece band from Norwich, UK. When bassist David Thorpe was killed in a motorcycle accident, the remaining three members of the band decided to go on hiatus. Henry has since formed a new band, Pennines. They did an EP and a Split which added up to 5 songs, I have them all but no idea what songs belong on which.
